Julien Elliot has always been a little defiant by nature. The projects that they've had the most fun with are ones that people have warned against being too difficult or lackluster to follow through with, yet the challenge of getting them to change their mind has always motivated them.

With their work, Julien hopes to create pieces that will urge others to reevaluate their way of thinking. They enjoy exploring social and political themes, as well as the use of juxtaposition to mess with the perception of viewers. A lot of Julien's work also incorporates montages as they love the puzzle of trying to put together various pieces of media in ways that they were not originally intended to be used.

Julien Elliot is a queer filmmaker who has often looked at the media being released in the world today and wondered why filmmakers were constantly trying to take the easy way out with representation. They believe that film and video as a medium is an extraordinary storytelling tool, and because of that, it’s important that it’s being used to tell the stories of as many different kinds of people as possible. As Julien continues to grow as an artist, they will continue working towards allowing people various opportunities of being able to see themselves and their hidden stories reflected on screen.

Julien Elliot holds a BFA in Film and Television Production from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a minor in Acting for the Camera. Having concentrated on editing and directing in their studies, Julien has worked on over 30 projects both on-set and in the editing room, including their film Better Than I Was. Better Than I Was was selected by SCAD faculty to be promoted through film circuits and chosen as an official selection of the New Bedford Film Festival to represent South Coast filmmakers. Julien will be continuing their studies in pursuit of a MS in Journalism at Boston University.
